摘要: Hydrogenation studies of carbon monoxide to methanol and ethylene glycol by homogeneous ruthenium catalysts in several types solvents are reported. In contrast previous reports catalysis under extreme pressures, these were conducted at pressures 340 atm below. Overall rates hydrogenation catalytic reactions (in solvents) nearly equal those recently reported for a similar system operated much higher pressure - example, rate 8.3 x 10/sup -3/ turnovers s/sup -1/ was observed, as compared with (to methyl formate) 1.05 -2/ 270/sup 0/C 1300 THF solvent. This comparison exhibits the importance solvent effects catalysis, even when catalyst is presumably uncharged mononuclear; improvements obtainable large increases may also be achieved appropriate choice solvents. An more important role reactive, carboxylic acid this demonstrated discovery that they cause formation two-carbon product which otherwise produces only methanol. The function unique solvent/promoter apparently intercept intermediatemore » change course its reaction. Further research based on results progress.« less
