摘要: The MS-2 system (Abbott Diagnostics, Division of Abbott Laboratories, Dallas, Tex.) was evaluated for its efficacy in determining the susceptibilities both clinical and selected challenge (nonfastidious, facultative, aerobic) isolates. results were compared with standard Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion microdilution by using fresh For gram-positive isolates other than enterococci, overall agreement between reference 93 to 98%. With 68% but 86% (agreement 73%). main discrepancies enterococci cephalothin, penicillin, gentamicin, kanamycin. gram-negative isolates, 91 93%, most occurring Enterobacter spp. beta-lactam antibiotics (MS-2 versus diffusion, 84%; microdilution, 87%) Serratia colistin (false-susceptible results). established antibiograms a special collection strains 97% cocci 86 98% strains. (With spp., 86%, greater 90% all organism groups.) Of 98 finite minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) that could be directly MICs, 77 (79%) within +/- 1 well geometric mean MIC. analysis time ranged from 2.8 6.5 h (mean, 4.2 h). On basis these results, we conclude can expected yield rapid accurate nonfastidious, aerobic pathogens. Images
