摘要: Activity-dependent shrinkage of extracellular space (ECS) is described in a simple model the mammalian central nervous system, rat optic nerve. In response to neural activation, ECS mature nerve rapidly and reversibly decreases by as much 20%. Activity- dependent not present neonatal nerves but develops over first 2 weeks life, roughly coincident with appearance glial cells this structure. These other observations suggest that activity-dependent results from fluid electrolyte movements into cells.
