Structural Transformation from the Unreconstructed (1×1) Structure to the (7×7) Dimer Adatom Stacking-Fault Structure on Si(111) Studied by Monte Carlo Simulations

摘要: Surface reconstruction process from the unreconstructed (1×1) structure to (7×7) dimer adatom stacking-fault (DAS) on Si(111) is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. For this purpose, we have developed a double layer model consisting of adatoms and three-pointed plane rotors in first second layers, respectively. simulations are carried out find that creation, annihilation, coalescence non-periodic structures frequently occur initial stage transformation, found cause abrupt changes sizes such structures. At later stages, partial corner hole created proper when vertexes three half cells surrounding it become phase with each other. Then, there occurs formation (N×N)-DAS (N = 5, 7, 9, or 11), among which (7×7)-DAS finally dominates over others.
