摘要: Introduction We aimed to assess the current scope of handoff education and practice among resident physicians in academic centers, propose a standardized algorithm for transition care from emergency department (ED) an inpatient setting. Methods This was cross-sectional survey targeted at medicine residency programs United States (US). The Web-based consisted multiple choice, completion, Likert scale items distributed potential subjects through listserv. A panel experts used modified Delphi approach develop ED handoff. Results 121 172 allopathic osteopathic responded survey, overall response rate 70.3%. Our showed that most EM US have some form training, majority them occur either during orientation or clinical structure is not well standardized, those places with formalized system over seventy percent residents do uniformly follow it. Approximately half responding felt their safe effective. About did formally proficiency trainees. Handoffs commonly take place phone, though respondents disagreed about ideal nearly equivalent responses between favoring bedside, face computer station. 2/3 reported were competent performing handoffs. Based on this review literature, we developed five-step ConclusionOur results identified trends transitions setting medical centers. An guide process proposed address gap handoffs surveyed needs assessment.
