摘要: Abstract Metallic bipolar plate (BPP) with high corrosion and low contact resistance, durability, strength, cost, volume, weight requirements is one of the critical parts PEMFC. This study dedicated to understand effect process sequence (manufacturing then coating vs. manufacturing) on resistance coated metallic plates. To this goal, three different PVD coatings (titanium nitride (TiN), chromium (CrN), zirconium (ZrN)), thicknesses, (0.1, 0.5, 1 μm) were applied BPPs made 316L stainless steel alloy before after two types manufacturing (i.e., stamping or hydroforming). Corrosion test results indicated that ZrN exhibited best protection while performance TiN was lowest among tested thicknesses. For most cases tested, in which manufacturing, occurrence found be more profound than case where manufacturing. Increasing thickness improve resistance. It also revealed hydroformed performed slightly better stamped terms behavior.
