Comparative study on conventional and improved integrated farming systems for sustainable production, income generation and employment opportunity among the tribal farmers in hilly Regions of Manipur

摘要: Farming system integrates livestock farming and agriculture. It has revolutionized conventional of livestock, the practice cultivating land raising stock aquaculture, horticulture, agro-industry allied production activities. is playing a pivotal role in maintaining sustainability increases productivity as well provides employment for better livelihood. The present survey was carried out Chandel, Churachandpur Ukhrul hill districts Manipur during 2012-13. A total 70 farmers/district, with cluster thirty five farmers improved integrated systems (IIFS) (CFS) were surveyed this study. average holding each farmer 0.64 ha 0.65 0.87 Ukhrul. Seven components, i epaddy, vegetables, fruits, piggery, backyard poultry, fishery water management studied. Among districts, had higher all enterprises. results revealed that performance components IIFS than CFS. different enterprises significantly compared to also gave net returns benefit cost ratio traditional farming. In most activities done by women, therefore they employed more men. overall result crop animal an excellent approach sustainable production, income generation opportunity small marginal rural households Manipur.
