Discrepancies in Elastic Constant Data for MgO Polycrystals and Single Crystals

摘要: Elastic properties and their pressure temperature derivatives are commonly measured on polyerystalline sintered aggregates assumed to adequately describe the behavior of an ideal aggregate single crystals without regard strain individual grains. Similarly, it is that by suitably averaging data for crystals, can be calculated. Ultrasonic results MgO 8 kbars 800°K presented point out limitations these assumptions illustrate anomalous material. Previous measurements single-crystal tabulated, sources error discussed.
