摘要: Defining the scale of connectivity, or exchange, among marine populations and determining factors driving this exchange are pivotal to our understanding population dynamics, genetic structure, biogeography many coastal species. Using a high-resolution biophysical model for Caribbean region, we report that typical larval dispersal distances ecologically relevant magnitudes on only 10 100 kilometers variety reef fish We also show importance early onset active movement mediating potential. In addition self-recruitment, import from outside local area is required sustain most populations, although these subsidies very limited in particular systems. The results reveal distinct regions isolation based correspond morphological clines observed across range organisms.
