摘要: Our work concerns structure-processing-morphology-property (SPMP) relationships in fibrous composites where the polymeric matrix may be self-reinforced. Composites have been made using a commerically available thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP) with nematic and isotropic transitions at 693 738 K, respectively. To understand behavior of such one must first composite nature resin. Thus, this article covers SPMP for self-reinforced phase alone. A review new data are presented on molecular dynamics wholly aromatic copolyesters solid state to help clarify temperature dependence mechanical properties. Subsequent papers concern short (Part II) continuous III) fiber reinforced composites.
