摘要: The Arabidopsis AtMYB103 gene codes for an R2R3 MYB domain protein whose expression is restricted to the tapetum of developing anthers and trichomes. Down-regulation using anti-sense leads abnormal pollen development, although seed setting still occurs (Higginson, T., Li, S.F. Parish, R.W. (2003) regulates trichome development in thaliana. Plant J. 35, 177-192). In this study, we show that blocking function gene, employing either insertion mutant or AtMYB103EAR chimeric repressor construct under control promoter, results complete male sterility failure set seed. These plants exhibit similar abnormalities with becoming highly vacuolated at early stages degenerating prematurely. No exine deposited on wall. degeneration grains commences prior mitosis, collapsing largely lacking cytoplasmic content. A restorer containing a stronger anther-specific promoter was introduced into donor crossed sterile transgenic repressor. fertility F1 restored. constitute reversible system which could be adapted hybrid production. This first targeting transcription factor essential development. Strategies generating inducible maintainable production crops are discussed.
