摘要: Work zones tend to cause hazardous conditions for drivers and construction workers since they generate conflicts between activities traffic. A clear understanding of the characteristics work zone crashes will enhance selection appropriate measures that can minimize negative impacts zones. This study investigated occurred in Virginia 1996 1999. The information on each crash was obtained from police record. location categorized as being one five areas a typical zone: advance warning area, transition longitudinal buffer activity termination area. An analysis percentage distributions then carried out with respect area zone, severity, type collision, highway. proportionality test used determine significant differences at 5% significance level. Selected characteristics, such proportions single- multi-vehicle crashes, were compared non-work crashes. results indicated predominant regardless highway rear-end crash. also proportion sideswipe same direction significantly higher than involved fatal did
