摘要: Surface engineering is unavoidable for most high-performance components manufacturing. Frequently when very specific properties are required duplex treatments necessary. In the case of diffusion-based treatments, like nitriding and chromizing, substrate composition plays an important role in obtained results. Consequently, second treatment will be influenced by first one. Putting these aspects evidence, Deutsches Institut fur Normung (DIN) CK15, DIN C45Pb, X40CrMoV5-1 steels were exposed to pack chromizing followed plasma chromizing. Results showed that treated surface features sensitive steel sequence. nitrided chromized surfaces, iron nitrides formed during dissolved replaced chromium (CrxNy) The inverse sequence resulted surfaces containing carbide (Cr7C3) with CrxNy nitriding. higher measured hardness (1,499 Vickers [HV]) was nitride steel. Salt spray tests ending promising enhancing corrosion resistance, except low carbon
