Income Diversification and Household Well-Being: A Case Study in Rural Areas of Bangladesh

摘要: Diversification of income is considered as an effective way to increase household wellbeing in the developing countries. However, scant attention has been given on this issue context Bangladesh. Thus, objective study present empirical evidence state diversification and its impact households’ rural areas Rajshahi district To end a multi-stage random sampling technique used select 138 households from area. In analyzing collected data, Simpson Index Diversity (SID) calculated measure level while consumption expenditure for measuring well-being. Finally, multiple regression model employed determine factors affecting wellbeing. The findings indicate that extent very low area it positive significant effect obtained results have important policy implications which imply programs targeted engage people other generating activities would augment their sources. As measures part government reducing rate interest private enterprising sector, development infrastructure improving information facilities at are suggested.
