摘要: The generation of reactive oxygen species may be both beneficial to cells, performing a function in inter- and intracellular signalling, detrimental, modifying cellular biomolecules, accumulation which has been associated with numerous diseases. Of the molecules subject oxidative modification, DNA received greatest attention, biomarkers exposure effect closest validation. Despite nearly quarter century study, large number base- sugar-derived lesions having identified, majority studies have focussed upon guanine 7,8-dihydro-8-oxo-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG). For most part, biological significance other not, as yet, investigated. In contrast, description characterisation enzyme systems responsible for repairing base damage is growing rapidly, being intense study. However, there remain notable gaps our knowledge repair proteins remove lesions, plus, more new processes/substrates need determined. There are many reports describing elevated levels oxidatively modified various matrices, plethora diseases; however, these association could merely coincidental, detailed required. Nevertheless, even based simply investigating potential role 8-OH-dG disease, weight evidence strongly suggests link between such pathogenesis disease. exact roles elucidated.
