Recombination of lithium-like bismuth and uranium ions with free electrons at the ESR

摘要: In two separate experiments at the ESR recombination of 230 MeV/u Bi80+ and 170 U89+ ions was studied. The analysis these has been carried on in order to extract information about radiative (RR) very highly charged exposed electrons with a density few 106 cm-3. light rate enhancement seen almost all recent relative energy Erel = 0 eV, surprising result is found for ions, which could add some confusion an already puzzling picture: spite high charge state investigated there no evidence enhanced beyond expected RR rate. This observation appears be supported by other experimental findings as well. We suspect, however, that this consequence excessive transverse magnetic field components cooler (which have meanwhile corrected for) causing variable degrees angular mismatch between ion beam electron occurring when ring settings are tuned optimum cooling.
