摘要: The development of an area-wide management programme for the migratorypest fall army worm ( Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith)) requires knowledge its preferred habitats throughout year and a detailed description seasonal changes in population numbers. 2. Molecular markers were used to determine host strain (corn or rice )o f male moths captured sex pheromone-baited traps placed different overwintering areas southern Florida. 3. results indicated that found all this was primarypopulation observed naturalised pasture wet- lands In comparison, larger populations both strains higher proportion corn associated with golf courses, agriculture, urban development. Corn adults most preva- lent during spring earlysummer. 4. These represent first geographical surveyof distribution Florida indicate are limited their habitat choice while have substantiallybroader range. localisation discrete at specific times provides opportunity reduce delay northward migration.
