摘要: Objective To demonstrate the effectiveness of incorporating 1 hour ultrasound training on extended focused assessment with sonography in trauma (eFAST) into year-3 medical student surgical clerkship. Design A prospective cohort study where participants served as self-controls. One instruction eFAST examination, along 3 required observed examinations, was incorporated surgery Effectiveness evaluated by a preliminary and posttraining assessment. An online survey used assessing comfort based 5-point Likert scale. quiz knowledge, 2-part objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) skill speed. Participants also logged examinations during 10-week clerkship they reported their performing interpreting Postassessment held last week included same quiz, survey, OSCE. Setting The performed at Loma Linda University affiliated hospitals students rotate. total 148 completed study. Results All testing modalities showed improvement. mean average OSCE improved from 46% ± 27% to 81% 18%. percentage able perform less than 6 minutes increased 18% 84% 36%. Participants' level recognizing pathology 2.40 0.94 3.55 0.87 out 5. Comfort 2.81 0.79 3.77 0.68. 2.88 3.65 0.72. Conclusions This demonstrates that general is feasible may lead competency examination.
