摘要: The outer carbohydrate layer, or O antigen, of Pseudomonas aeruginosa varies markedly in different isolates these bacteria, and at least 20 distinct O-antigen serotypes have been described. Previous studies indicated that the major enzymes responsible for synthesis are encoded a cluster genes occupy common genetic locus. We used targeted yeast recombinational cloning to isolate this locus from internationally recognized serotype strains. DNA sequencing isolated segments revealed 11 highly divergent gene clusters region. Homology searches protein products likely direct biosynthesis. O15 strains lack functional region analyzed, suggesting biosynthesis harbored portion genome. overall pattern underscores plasticity P. genome, which specific site well-conserved genomic can be occupied by any numerous islands functionally related with diverse sequences.
