摘要: Background: Momordica charantia (M. charantia) seed has been supposed to have an antifertility property but mechanisms underlying the infertility effect not investigated. Objective: We investigated of M. ethanol extracts on reproductive toxicology and seminal plasma testosterone in male Wistar rats. Materials Methods: The control group (I) was provided daily 1 ml dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) experimental groups II III were given 400 800 mg dry matter/kg body weight dissolved DMSO via esophageal route. All administered for 42 days (day 42). Changes weight, fertility, characteristics, testicular histopathology levels among three compared. Results: On day 42, caused (p=0.001). demonstrated significant reductions diameters seminiferous tubules epididymides, spermatid density, sperm production caudal epididymal spermatozoa, motility viability (p=0.046). Pathological changes revealed atrophy, desquamation, pyknosis nucleus multinucleated giant cell. Plasma cells evident parts epididymides rats treated with high dose extract. Furthermore, extract suppressed level (p=0.001) (p=0.002). Conclusion: Our data showed that Charantia interruption their fertility probably attributed direct toxic tubules, epididymis lowered which might impact parameters.
