摘要: Abstract A central composite rotatable design was used to study the effect of methanol quantity, acid concentration and reaction time on reduction free fatty acids content mahua oil during its pretreatment for making biodiesel. All three variables significantly affected value product, being most effective followed by catalyst concentration. Using response surface methodology, a quadratic polynomial equation obtained multiple regression analysis. Verification experiments confirmed validity predicted model. The optimum combinations reducing level less than 1% after 0.32 v/v methanol-to-oil ratio, 1.24% H 2 SO 4 1.26 h at 60 °C. After oil, transesterification carried out with 0.25 ratio (6:1 molar ratio) 0.7% w/v KOH as an alkaline produce fuel properties biodiesel so complied requirements both American European standards
