Effects of dietary weight loss on obstructive sleep apnea: a meta-analysis.

摘要: Clinical and epidemiologic investigations suggest a strong association between obesity obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the currently available literature reporting on effectiveness dietary weight loss in treating OSA among obese patients. Relevant studies were identified by computerized searches PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web Science, Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials through September 2011 as well reference lists all obtained articles. Information design, patient characteristics, pre- post-dietary measures body mass index (BMI), quality was obtained. Data extracted two independent analysts. Weighted averages using random-effects model are reported with 95 % confidence intervals. Nine articles representing 577 patients selected. Dietary program resulted pooled mean BMI reduction 4.8 kg/m2 (95 interval [CI] 3.8-5.9). hypopnea (AHI) indices at intervention 52.5 (range 10.0–91.0) 28.3 events/h 5.4–64.5), respectively (p < 0.001). Compared control, weighted difference AHI decreased −14.3 CI −23.5 −5.1; p = 0.002) favor programs. programs effective reducing severity but not adequate relieving respiratory events. Weight should be considered adjunct rather than curative therapy.
