摘要: Background: The effect of gender on the expression primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is not well characterized. Aim: We therefore evaluated two Caucasian populations (US and Italian) men women with PHPT, matched for age body mass index (BMI), in a cross-sectional retrospective observational study. Methods: studied 74 US (23 men) 126 Italian (42 patients evaluating main biochemical indices disease bone mineral density (BMD) at spine proximal femur. Results: Mean serum calcium levels were higher both compared to (11.7±1.22 mg/dl 11.1±0.83, p<0.01) (11.3±1.01 10.8±0.58, p<0.001), similar results ionized calcium. PTH different either between genders or countries. After controlling BMI, mean BMD femoral neck total hip females was significantly female patients. Conclusion: Despite circulating PTH, have more pronounced effects as assessed by significant cortical involvement BMD.
