摘要: Illicium griffithii is exploited for its medicinal and spice properties in the industry. Population structure of I. gri ffithii Hook. f. Tho ms. was studied by observing number individuals species during 2003–2004 three stands experiencing different degrees distu rbance temperate broad-leaved forest Arunachal Pradesh, northeast India. Individuals were categorized based on d iameter classes, i.e. seedlings (0–2 cm), saplings (> 2–6 cm) trees 6 cm). The stand density cm diameter) ranges from 564 ha –1 disturbed to 904 undisturbed while basal area recorded highest stand, (12.55 m 2 ) lowest highly (6.04 ). density–diameter class distribution (individuals per hectare) follows trend: < all stands. This clearly i ndicates that regeneration status poor. diameter pattern indicates decreasing higher classes. may be due harvesting girth ndividuals firewood other purposes local people. overall population reveals dominance adult stands, which emphasized negative role disturbance adversely impacting ffithii. On hand, free access, ther e unchecked exploitation. Anyone can extract as much (s)he can. Therefore, a policy should made protect legally. Also, people aware about importance need conservation addressing prevalent factors affect natural species.
