THE ZOOS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE FORMAL AND INFORMAL ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

摘要: Due to their unique settings, zoos have indubitable role in teaching vast amount of people each year about the secrets and miracles life. According World’s Zoo Strategy, four main purposes goals: 1). Recreation, providing a “green touch”; 2). Education diversity life; 3). Research on wildlife using captive facilities for studies not possible nature 4). Conservation endangered species which only captivity can provide shelter. Sofia zoo has an Environmental Centre established 10 years ago is responsible fulfilling three aims blend activities. We had developed education packages formal informal general public with special focus children, bases research conducted by university students preliminary also take part several conservation projects, results are used as aproach. Examples all these activities discussed further this paper.
