摘要: Abstract The epicardium is the outermost layer of heart and it formed by mesothelial cells that derive from a transient structure precursor (the proepicardium). Proepicardial migrate over postlooped heart, followed migration committed endothelial smooth muscle precursors proepicardium through subepicardial matrix where coronary arteries develop. Epicardial undergo epithelial–mesenchymal transition to become vascular muscle, perivascular fibroblasts, intermyocardial fibroblasts. origin still under debate. Here, we provide an overview current knowledge on epicardial development with special emphasis cellular processes genetic networks regulate arteriogenesis myocardial growth.
