摘要: The origin of laser‐induced refractive changes (laser damage) in LiNbO3 has been identified as iron impurities. Quantitative measurements the damage were made using holographic techniques impurity content crystals was varied. Holographic diffraction efficiencies from high 0.44 to lower than 10−6 have achieved with 0.2 cm thick, 10 W/cm2 5145‐A radiation, both by varying concentration and valence state these previously observed effects field annealing, crystal coloration, oxidation reduction, role OH‐ ions are all accounted for.
