摘要: The periodic banding pattern of stained collagen fibrils observed in the electron microscopic can be correlated with charge distribution deduced from amino acid sequence. Earlier work used alpha 1 chain sequence data only. present study incorporates 2 as well data, so that complete charged residues is used. Correlation improved if it supposed extrahelical terminal regions are contracted. optimal value periodicity, D, (previously 232.3 +/- 0.5 using only), now 234.2 residues, assuming uniform spacing helical body molecule. This agrees better values obtained by others analyses interactions between molecules, alone. Using relative axial locations fibril displayed. In this way, contributing to each band staining identified.
