摘要: We present a new measure of the angular two-point correlation function Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) at z ~ 3, obtained from variance galaxy counts in two-dimensional cells. By avoiding binning separations, this method is significantly less affected by shot noise than traditional measures and allows for more accurate determination function. used sample about 1000 with ≤ 25.5 extracted survey Steidel collaborators found following results. At scales range 30'' θ 100'', w(θ) can be accurately described as power law slope β = 0.50 (1 σ random)-0.10 (systematic), shallower presented Giavalisco collaborators. However, spatial length, derived Limber deprojection, very good agreement previous measures, confirming strong clustering these sources. discuss detail effects both random systematic errors, particular so-called integral constraint bias, to which we set lower limit using numerical simulations. This suggests that current samples do not yet provide fair representation large-scale distribution LBGs 3. An intriguing result our analysis separations smaller seems depart fitted larger become smaller. feature detected ~90% confidence level and, if real, information on number density within their host halos well size mass halos.
