摘要: This study explores the status of exploited shark populations in Gulf Gabes relation to fishing pressure, based on data pertaining longline fishery, collected during two periods. Catch from 48 and 96 pelagic sets collected, respectively, 2007/2008 2016/2017, were used compare species composition catch rates between Four recorded 2007/2008, while 11 additional demersal elasmobranchs along with teleosts fished 2016/2017. Elasmobranch dominated catches 94% 99.3% terms specimens number, 2016/2017 2007/2008. The sandbar shark, Carcharhinus plumbeus , was predominant (>84% all fishes) both Two other sharks, brevipinna Isurus oxyrinchus relatively common, a minor component. Despite increase diversity captured nominal elasmobranch C. decreased by 39.17% 42.21%, suggesting populations’ declines. In addition, size distribution analyses revealed that this fishery may opportunistically operate breeding nursery areas, which affect main over most their life stages. mortality hooking location proportions species-specific, some having significant percentages live at time haulback, providing an opportunity release sensitive Given described state exploitations Gabes, urgent efficient regulation measures conservation strategies, together further investigations, are required allow changing unregulated sustainable one.
