A STUDY OF THE MEAN WIND AND TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THE VICINITY OF THE POLAR FRONT IN WINTER

摘要: Abstract A mean cross section is constructed from a number of individually analyzed daily sections, using the frontal layer as reference for coordinates. This preserves thermal gradients observed in individual cases, and minimizes effect observational errors. Computed wind velocity, shear, vorticity patterns are discussed, particularly with regard to strong anticyclonic shear low absolute found south jet stream near tropopause level.
