摘要: Silicon (Si) has been known to augment plant defense against biotic and abiotic pressures. Maize (Zea maize L.) is classified as a Si accumulator relatively susceptible alkaline stress. In this study, seeds of were grown in pots exposed various concentrations Na2CO3 (0, 25, 50, 75 mM) with or without 1.5 mM the form sodium metasilicate Na2O3Si.5H2O for 25 days. Alkaline-stressed plants showed decrease growth parameters, leaf relative water content (LRWC), contents photosynthetic pigments, soluble sugars, total phenols potassium ion (K(+)), well potassium/sodium (K(+)/Na(+)) ratio. By contrast, stress increased proteins, free amino acids, proline, Na(+) malondialdehyde (MDA), activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) stressed plants. On other hand, application by seed-priming improved plants, which was accompanied enhancement LRWC, levels acids K(+), SOD, CAT, POD enzymes. Furthermore, supplement resulted MDA Na(+), together enhanced K(+) level led favorable adjustment K(+)/Na(+) ratio, treated alone. Taken together, these results indicate that plays pivotal role alleviating negative effects on improving status, enhancing accumulating osmoprotectants rather than activating antioxidant machinery, maintaining balance Thus, our findings demonstrate an efficient strategy can be used boost tolerance
