摘要: Using soft x-ray spectromicroscopy we show that NiO(001) exhibits a crystallographic and magnetic domain structure near the surface identical to of bulk. Upon Co deposition perpendicular coupling between Ni moments is observed persists even after formation uncompensated spins at interface through annealing. The chemical composition alters its leads reorientation from direction. We this driven by changes in magnetocrystalline anisotropy rather than exchange mediated residual spins.
