摘要: Abstract Palaeomagnetic and palaeontological studies on samples withdrawn from a 250-m-long unorientated core Reggio di Calabria, Italy (38°N, 16°E) are described. The lower 200 m of penetrated off-shore clays visual examination the split sections indicated no obvious breaks in deposition. After alternating field demagnetization Oe palaeomagnetic inclination log shows Brunhes/Matuyama boundary at 110 below which Jaramillo Olduvai Events within Matuyama Epoch identified. This interpretation magnetostratigraphy is supported by evidence. rate accumulation clay estimated to have ranged between about 60 190 mm/kyr with an overall average through 90 mm/kyr. Assuming that this continued Brunhes Epoch, age top unit be 90,000 yr B.P. About 5 unconformable surface clay, sequence reversed inclinations interpreted as record Blake Event, deposition implies its duration may been long 50,000 yr. No other event recorded though there four horizons where shallow positive recorded.
