摘要: BACKGROUND--Increasing referral numbers make the development of simplified accurate methods diagnosing sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome highly desirable. The accuracy one such system--the ResCare Autoset--has been examined. METHODS--Thirty consecutive patients assessed by polysomnography had simultaneous monitoring their respiratory pattern using Autoset system. detects episodes flattening flow/time profile nasal cannulae. RESULTS--There was a good correlation (r = 0.85) between number apnoeas+hypopnoeas/hour in bed recorded and median difference events 3.1 (95% confidence interval 8.4 to -1.6)/hour bed. In two scored 70 compared with 34 apnoeas+hypopnoeas 35 arousals/hour polysomnography; however, this did not alter diagnostic category either patient. gave sensitivity 100%, specificity 92%, positive predictive value negative which better than oximetry alone. A study system costs 14 pounds 126 for polysomnography. CONCLUSIONS--The is clinically useful syndrome.
