摘要: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are ∼22 nt non-coding RNAs that typically bind to the 3′ UTR of target mRNAs in cytoplasm, resulting mRNA destabilization and translational repression. Here, we report miRNAs can also regulate gene expression by targeting antisense transcripts human cells. Specifically, show miR-671 directs cleavage a circular transcript Cerebellar Degeneration-Related protein 1 (CDR1) locus an Ago2-slicer-dependent manner. The downregulation has concomitant decrease CDR1 levels, independently heterochromatin formation. This study provides first evidence for as functional miRNA targets, novel regulatory mechanism involving positive correlation between RNA levels.
