Performance evaluation of Indian states in tourism using an integrated PROMETHEE-GAIA approach

摘要: Tourism development has a unique responsibility in regional policy of almost all countries. It is well known fact that tourism remarkable contribution sustainable development, economic growth and social benefits for country, if planned methodically. This due to its unquestionable advantages the local community with respect economic, environmental aspects. Since few decades, it become driving area Indian planning strategy deal issues effective utilization wide range destination resources also optimize intensity financial involvement developing tourist infrastructure restraint province. paper applies simple methodology quantify potential states using an integrated visual decision aid model preference ranking organization method enrichment evaluation (PROMETHEE) geometrical analysis interactive (GAIA). Several physical attributes are considered evaluate rank their performance tourism. The adoption this identifies Jammu Kashmir, Jharkhand as best worst performing respectively. In GAIA plane, position Kashmir farthest from origin, followed by Madhya Pradesh. A close comparison between these two top reveals mainly outperforms Pradesh budget allocation, population density, pollution index cost living criteria. not at even single criterion. observed beneficial non-beneficial criteria form different clusters, expected. problem identified be hard solve.
