摘要: Objective: This study examines the effect of chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy on salivary cortisol levels. Design: Prospective case series over six weeks duration. The trial consisted establishment each individual’s baseline level, a two week treatment period (4 treatments), and post period. Setting: Macquarie University Chiropractic Research Centre. Participants: Nine subjects (six male, three female), employed in large corporation, volunteered to therapy. Main Outcome Measures: Saliva samples were analysed using an Amerlex Radioimmunoassay Kit determine concentrations present. Results: Statistical interpretation, after exclusion apparent outlying subject, revealed results statistical significance (p<0.001) for reduction complete five study. In addition, there was no alteration levels immediately preceding 15 minutes therapy. Conclusion: initial evidence is inconclusive, however, potential relationship demands further investigation. Additional research necessary measuring physiological effects therapy. method currently being used larger randomised controlled trial.
