摘要: The postsocialist process of urban restructuring came with important spatial, social, and economic consequences. This triggered transformations that remain palpable in the everyday texture life, spatial patterns, even internal structures city. Every settlement was bound to contribute state socialist industry so also included multiple aspects dereliction ruination industrial assets. Threatening formations sustainability, most common feature is collective neglect at national, regional, local scales. transition from state-socialist forms production current market-based system poses many difficulties. article specifically investigates problems ruins Lugoj—which are typical for medium-sized municipalities Romania. research draws on qualitative data gathered by authors through semi-structured interviews, personal communication, oral histories continuous infield observation (2012–2019). findings unveil reproduction abandoned spaces Romanian settlements absence specific regeneration programs policies redevelopment marginalized areas. analysis reveals harm quality life communities, damaging both landscape sustainability. Further actions urgently needed.
