摘要: Watercress (WC) is an aquatic vegetable that belongs to the Brassicaceae family, and it often grows near water. In traditional medicine, WC a known remedy for hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, arthritis, bronchitis, diuresis, odontalgia, scurvy. It also acts as antiestrogenic can be used nutritional supplement. has been reported these therapeutic effects are due primary metabolites such isothiocyanates, glucosinolates, polyphenols (flavonoids, phenolic acids, proanthocyanidins), vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, E, C), terpenes (including carotenoids), bioelements which exist in this plant. Many pharmacological studies confirm antioxidant, antibacterial, anticancer, antipsoriatic, anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, renoprotective, hepatoprotective, antigenotoxicity of WC. The consumption extract useful reducing complications hypercholesterolemia hyperglycemia. Furthermore, could markedly augment antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase catalase activity. Interestingly, food rich help reduce oxidative stress, DNA damage, cancer susceptibility. Several showed significantly reduced liver injury result cholestatic hepatic injury, gamma radiation, arsenic, acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity. review, researchers focus on phytochemical biochemical characterizations its treatment human diseases.
