摘要: The Middle East, North Africa region, presents a complex heterogeneity of historical, social and political interconnections. This article begins with brief overview earlier scholarly approaches to the region then focuses on 1990s as turning point that launched new literature based critical readings both Orientalist developmentalist approaches. Works over past two decades have provided exciting insights into workings nation, gender, religion in region. However, there is still insufficient attention issues identity difference structure these societies fuel much its dynamics.
