Safety and Security Concerns of Nurses Working in the Intensive Care Unit: A Qualitative Study.

摘要: Intensive care units (ICUs) exist to serve as a safe place for critically ill patients receive from skilled practitioners. In this qualitative study, ICU nurses shared their perspectives on elements that promote safety and security units. After obtaining institutional review board approval, participants participated in telephone interviews with nurse researcher who has experience bedside nurse. Five categories 14 themes were identified then confirmed using member checking. Results indicate prefer provide ICUs no more than 12 beds the following: visibility of coworkers; 1 way exit; can be locked case emergency or threat. Nearly all respondents mentioned adequate staffing most important attribute safe, secure environment families. More research is needed identify design features make impact providing environment.
