摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the optical properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) and related alloys. Several principal intrinsic extrinsic transitions involving free excitons; polaritons; bound excitons their two electron satellites, donor acceptor pairs; LO-phonon interactions, measured by absorption, reflection, photo photoluminescence spectroscopy are analyzed. The refractive indices ZnO MgZnO, stimulated emission in thin films quantum structures, carrier recombination dynamics also discussed. Even though there is extensive data on some its characteristics still remain unclear. There no consensus valence band ordering chemical origin exciton yet to be determined. material has been a subject varying degrees research effort over decades. Its have studied extensively motivated unique advantages other wide-gap materials. Among them large binding energy 60 meV, which should pave way for exciton-based lasing action with very low threshold currents.
