摘要: To explore the forensic implications of ‘verbal overshadowing’ in young and older eyewitnesses, we examined effects providing a verbal face description on subsequent performance lineup task. Young (18–30 years) (60–80 adults viewed videotaped crime performed some unrelated cognitive tasks. Participants experimental condition were then asked to supply target person event or perform control Upon completing description/control task participants attempted identify from present photo-lineup presented sequential simultaneous mode. Older made more false choices testing reduced correct choices. There was weak trend consistent with overshadowing that age as well measures face-matching expertise. Although only slightly, it appeared affect self-reported use feature-matching strategy linked accurate decisions by inaccurate senior adults. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
