摘要: Objective: Alterations in selenium (Se) status may result suboptimal amounts of selenoproteins, which have been associated with increased oxidative stress levels. The Pro198Leu polymorphism at the glutathione peroxidase-1 (GPx1) gene is supposed to be functional. response Se status, GPx activity, and levels DNA damage a supplementation trial between genotypes related that was investigated. Methods: A randomized conducted 37 morbidly obese women. Participants consumed one Brazil nut, provided approximately 290 mg day, for 8 wk. Blood concentrations, erythrocyte were measured baseline results compared by genotypes. Results: genotype frequencies 0.487, 0.378, 0.135 Pro/Pro (the wild-type genotype), Pro/Leu, Leu/Leu, respectively. At baseline, 100% subjects deficient, after supplementation, there an improvement plasma (P < 0.001 Pro/ Leu, P 0.05 Leu/Leu), ¼ 0.00 activity Pro/Pro, 0.00001 Leu/Leu). In addition, group showed decrease nut consumption 0.005), those higher Leu/Leu 0.05). Conclusion: Consumption unit nuts daily effectively increases women, regardless GPx1 polymorphism. However, evaluated biomarkers distinct when considered.
