摘要: Abstract A study of the kinetics thermal decomposition sodium azide crystals, in form platelets, obtained by crystallization from aqueous solution is reported. The experimental results for rate fall approximately into three temperature regions: (a) below 300°C; (b) 300–345°C; and (c) above 350°C. Below 300°C follows, after a rapid initial stage (c.a. 5 per cent), linear relation leaving white residue shape original crystal. reaction begins on preferred crystallographic faces moves along two-dimensional path towards center During progress sharp line demarcation observed at undecomposed interface. Between 300–345°C sigmoid type enclosing central cavity. Above 350°C two different rates are observed, latter being 100 times faster than first with no detectable residue. enhanced attributed to adsorbed which catalyses reaction.
