Risky bodies in risky spaces: disabled people’s pursuit of outdoor leisure

摘要: Risk is used to deny disabled people access many parts of mainstream life. Using qualitative data we explore people’s views and experiences outdoor recreation, bringing together ideas from two areas sociology – disability studies risk using the concepts edgework psycho-emotional disablism. Many felt that outdoors represented a risky environment. For some, was one main drivers for going out into countryside; whilst others, major cause their reluctance venture countryside. Engaging in both can disable challenge disablist views.
