摘要: Received: Revised: Accepted: December 06, 2013 23, 28, Colitis was induced in animals of groups G2 to G6 by adding Dextran sulfate sodium drinking water from day 1 7 ad libitum. Animals group G1 received distilled alone. T. terrestris, extract dissolved administered three at the dose levels 40, 80 and 160 mg/kg body weight respectively. A daily clinical assessment performed all animals, including weight, evaluation stool consistency presence blood stools. Tissue myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity carried out measure neutrophil accumulation. Isolated distal portions colon were placed an embedding frame, preserved 10% formalin, sliced, mounted stained with hemotoxylin & eosin then histologically scored. Oral administration terrestris (40, mg/kg) revealed a markedly reduced disease severity, attributed reductions occult blood, gross bleeding, diarrhea. The length treated found be comparable vehicle control. MPO decreased as compared control group. Administration significantly histological injury DSS. inflammation score crypt damage improved T DSS mice. results showed that has potential suppress colitis mice indicated macroscopic, microscopic biochemical evaluations. findings this study elucidate anti-IBD anti-inflammatory properties terrestris.
