摘要: Abstract BACKGROUND & AIMS: Different digestive enzymes and transporters are present in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, but factors determining region-specific gene expression not yet understood. Homeobox transcription important defining gradients of cellular differentiation. The aim this study was to investigate whether their differs between proximal (duodenal) distal (ileal) regions human small intestine. METHODS: Intestinal RNA prepared from surgical patients, reverse-transcription polymerase chain reactions (PCRs) performed with mixed sequence oligonucleotide primers based on conserved regions. PCR products were identified by cloning sequencing. Transcript abundance determined Northern blotting. RESULTS: homologues as Cdx-1, Cdx-2 (or Cdx-3), Pdx-1 (previously named Islet/duodenal homeobox [Idx]-1, Ipf-1, or Stf-1), 13 homeodomain cluster genes, including HOXB3, HOXB4, HOXA6. relative some these differed duodenum ileum. transcripts found only Cdx-2, HOXB3 readily detectable both regions, Cdx-1 having a more marked expression. CONCLUSIONS: Many genes expressed adult intestinal mucosa, predominantly one region. (Gastroenterology 1997 Aug;113(2):472-7)
