External Inverse-Compton Emission Associated with Extended and Plateau Emission of Short Gamma-Ray Bursts: Application to GRB 160821B

摘要: The recent detection of TeV photons from two gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), GRB 190114C and 180720B, has opened a new window for multi-messenger multi-wavelength astrophysics high-energy transients. We study the origin very-high-energy (VHE) $\gamma$-rays short 160821B, which MAGIC Collaboration reported $\sim 3 \sigma$ statistical significance. Short GRBs are often accompanied by extended plateau emission, is attributed to internal dissipation resulting activities long-lasting central engine, Murase et al. (2018) recently suggested external inverse-Compton (EIC) scenario VHE counterparts neutron star mergers. Applying this we show that EIC flux can reach 10^{-12}\rm~erg~cm^{-2}~s^{-1}$ within time period 10^3 - 10^4\rm~s$, consistent with observations. expected during emission will be detectable greater significance future detectors such as Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). light curve distinguishable feature, where predicted peak around end seed emission.
